Where We Build Walkways
Front entrance paths: from the sidewalk or driveway to your front door, sized so two people can walk side by side where there's room.
Garden walkways: paths through planting beds and lawns, straight or curved to follow the garden.
Connections: paths that join a patio to a stoop, a side or back entrance, or a gate, so the outside of the house works as one route.
Width, Line and Pattern
We set out the line on site with you before we start. We agree the width, where it bends, and whether to use cut stone in a regular pattern or irregular stone with wider joints. We also check where people actually walk, so the path doesn't get bypassed across the grass.
Foundations
A walkway is only as steady as what it sits on. We dig out, build and compact a base that suits the stone and the ground. Where tree roots, soft ground or old concrete are in the way, we tell you what we find and agree how to deal with it before we go on.
Keeping Water Off the Path
We give the path a slight cross-fall so rain runs off to the side, not toward the house or into the joints. Where a path crosses a low spot, we explain the options and price any extra work separately.
Meeting Existing Steps and Stoops
The point where a new walkway meets an old step or stoop needs care. We match the path's height to the step so there's no trip edge, and if an existing step is loose or damaged we'll tell you and quote for the repair separately, so you decide.
